The Waterline Wins Again

August 31, 2018
The Waterline Restaurant at Keppel Bay Marina has won the Café Dining NQ category at the 2018 Queensland & Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

“We are proud to be representing our Region at the State Awards, and to be putting the Capricorn Coast in the dining map.” Commented Kylie Smith, General Manager of Keppel Bay Marina. “To be in the room with the Best of the Best Dining venues in the State and to be bringing home an award is a huge honour and fantastic achievement for our team.”

“We have a team of over 20 staff, and have been in the business for 26 years now, and it is the passion of our team that makes dining at The Waterline Restaurant an award winning experience. We focus on serving the best local produce and on creating memorable dining experience for all our guests, and that is what keeps us relevant. Food trends come and go, but consistently great quality food made from fresh local produce, friendly customer service and beautiful atmosphere are what it takes to build and sustain a hospitality business in the long term.”

More than 150 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged over 37 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Royal International Convention Centre.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. The Awards for Excellence is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience.

The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners. The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service experienced when the judges anonymously dine.

R&CA CEO Juliana Payne says, “The Waterline Restaurant should be proud of their achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy – there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that goes into to making it work. But when you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary.”

The Waterline Restaurant may compete with other region finalists at the National Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence to be held at Luna Park in Sydney on Monday 29th October 2018. Finalists will be advised of their status by late September.
